Statement of Solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement

The San Francisco Tenant Union’s goals for housing justice for everyone can’t come to pass if racism persists; our own goals are linked to the success of the Black Lives Matter movement. As an all volunteer-run and donation-funded organization, we believe in mutual aid and solidarity to fight for the future we want to see. We support radical black organizing that doesn’t have to rely on the nonprofit industrial complex, state support, or corporate sponsorships, because we know that money comes with strings and political limitations.

And we know that words are not enough.

This week the TU is donating half of our tenant counseling income to the Movement For Black Lives (M4BL.org). If you can afford it, consider donating a few extra dollars when you talk to one of our volunteer counselors this week to support the important work of the TU and the M4BL.
