Luxury Project Blocked by Progressive Supes

The progressive San Francisco Supervisors blocked a huge luxury housing project in SOMA. The more conservative Supervisors Safai and Stefani were joined by Supervisor Haney who is running for California District 17 Assembly with the support of the building trade and at least some YIMBYs.

The debate shows city planners’ failure to understand the role of market-rate housing in gentrification and displacement.
