Rent Increase Limitation If Not Covered Under SF/CA Rent Control Through April 16, 2022
For rental units not covered under the San Francisco Rent Ordinance nor California rent control including when the master tenant leaves (California Civil Code Section 1954.53(d)(2)), a rent increase is often allowed. However, the state of emergency in California limits the rent increase to 10 percent over costs until April 17, 2022.
