Good News! ERAP Lawsuit: Judge Orders CA Dept Of Housing & Community Development (HCD) To Stop Denying State Rental Assistance Applications Until Further Review. Help get the word out by retweeting this.
Here is the press release from Western Center on Law & Poverty, Public Counsel and the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles.
While the judge has yet to issue their written order, HCD cannot deny any other tenants waiting to have their application reviewed. How many tenants is that? Not sure. HCD has yet to release updated data that the National Equity Atlas has used to update this dashboard since June 23, when there were 28,450 cases left to be reviewed. They claim to have reviewed all pending applications, but we know of community members who have yet to hear back. This also means that if tenants have been denied rental assistance from the state program, they may have more time to appeal.
